Why Aren't You Losing Weight?

Have you been fighting and losing in the war on weight loss? If so you're not alone as millions of Americans have and continue to lose their battle fighting off those extra pounds. The obesity and morbidly obese rates are at an all time high despite the plethora of diets and "advice" you see everywhere on the TV, and other media.

Why are so many people still overweight and obese when we are so much more "enlightened" than we were decades ago? How could it get this bad, and is there anything to do about it? And if so what?

With any issue there can be various ways of tackling a problem, some good and some not so good. The same is true with weight loss. Often times it's not necessarily our desire to change (though this plays a huge role) but our METHOD that can be a make or break scenario.

We're usually told to "eat less and exercise more" and this stems from the "calories in, calories out" hypothesis. Like any hypothesis it has to be tested and if the evidence doesn't fall in it's favor then we need to look at other options.

Perhaps instead of looking at how MUCH we eat, we should look more at WHAT we eat. After all if the old saying is true that "you are what you eat" then it doesn't really matter how much now does it? "Ahhh..so I definitely need to get the fat out of my diet, after all if I'm eating fat I'll be fat" you say. Well no, I didn't say that.

To make a real change all that's needed is a different approach rather than the same old cliched worn out "advice" we get everyday. Many personal trainers and other "experts" have in fat never had a serious weight problem in their lives yet we are to take their word for it simply because they are a glorified "expert."

Not so fast. This is the 21st century and we need to change our thinking when it comes to diet and fat loss. A look at the current "advice" and correcting what's wrong with it is a step in the right direction. But how do we do that? Simple, we first start by not continuing what we've been doing.

The current dogma on fat, calories, carbs and exercise needs to be rethought and old ideas that don't work need to be thrown out. Breaking old habits is never easy but it's step one on the road to real results.
